Why Do Acne Scars Form?

Acne scars develop when inflamed breakouts damage the deeper layers of skin. As the skin attempts to repair itself, it can produce too much collagen (raised scars) or too little (depressed scars like ice pick, boxcar, or rolling scars). The severity depends on the type of acne, how long it persisted, and whether lesions were picked or squeezed.

Types of Acne Scars We Treat

Ice Pick Scars — Deep, narrow pits that extend into the dermis. These are among the most challenging to treat and respond best to RF microneedling combined with chemical peels.

Boxcar Scars — Broad, rectangular depressions with defined edges. RF microneedling and skin needling are particularly effective at remodelling these scars.
